Early Childhood Education Sector Specialist, NSW

Joan Dickson has seen the impact that early education can have on the life of a child in particular Aboriginal children, having been involved in the running of a preschool in remote NSW as the Chairperson for 10 years. 

Working within schools in rural and remote communities, Joan is committed to ensure that children's transitions to school meets the needs of the child.

As a proud Muruwari woman, Joan believes that First Nations children's voices must be heard as they are the future leaders within their communities.

Joan is currently working for the NSW Department of Education as an Senior Policy Officer within the Early Childhood Outcomes Directorate assisting children, families and communities to access Early Childhood Education services where there has been limited opportunities in the past.
